Author analyzes all of the definitons of beauty which are offered in the dialogue and recognizes epagoge as key method, which takes two directions: first – through the objects, resulting with suitability (prepon) as definiton of beauty, definiton which essentially implies relationalism and consequently, in Plato's opinion, relativism; second direction – to subjective mind, resulting with definition of beauty as quality that gives pleasure to the senses, that means making relation with human senses (human mind); relationalism appears anew implying relativism anyway. That is, in author's opinion, the reason why Plato had given up on this way of investigation as far as beauty is concerned.
ER -
