Apstrakt

Imanuel Kant u delu Metafizička polazna načela prirodne nauke iznosi oštar stav da hemija nije prava nauka, što u njegovom registru znači da se u hemiji ne upotrebljavaju konstrukcije čistog opažaja, to jest da u hemiji nema čiste matematike. Ovo može da zvuči neobično za poznavaoce savremene kvantitativne hemije, a u izvesnoj meri se kosi i sa sadržajem Kantovih najranijih spisa o prirodi. U tekstu Sažeta razmatranja o vatri Kant koristi geometrijske konstrukcije pri rezonovanju o tipično hemijskom fenomenu, toploti. Detaljnijom analizom ovog teksta i poređenjem sa izvesnim istaknutim teorijama toplote, uviđamo da je Kantovo objašnjenje toplote pre dinamičko nego hemijsko. Pomoću ovog uvida možemo da razrešimo naznačenu diskrepancu stavova o hemiji: niti je Kant u međuvremenu izmenio svoj pogled na hemiju niti je njegovo viđenje hemije nedosledno, već je sadržaj spisa o vatri pre fizički nego hemijski predmet.
