Abstract

This paper will address Deleuze’s critique of Kant’s “transcendental idealism” from the standpoint of his “transcendental empiricism”. In the first part of the paper, I will discuss the significance that empiricism holds within Kant’s idealism, with a particular focus on the role of sensibility within the Critique of Pure Reason. Based on this brief overview, I will demonstrate in what sense Deleuze’s “empiricism” serves not only as a critique of Kant’s idealism but also of empiricism, which, according to Deleuze, remains too “empirical”.
